moving gold mine

My idea is that the should be a moving gold mine. The mine can be comets passing randomly near any star at any time. Players would have to send ships after them in order to capture the comets, but the comets keep heading in their random directions. once the gold is mined we could have an upgrade at the research lab that allows us to build a refinery building on the comet which converts the gold to $. multiple players can capture a single comet but the gold ratio depends on the number of ships you have (special mining ships). but after a period of time the gold becomes depleted but the comet remains. maybe after 3-5 days's the comet re-accumulates the gold resource by chemical reactions as it travels.

I like the idea, but the chances of more than one people trying to get ships to a comment would be low. Maybe random star systems should include gold or diamond planets, but are rare to find.

yeah that would work too. but the comet idea is meant to give everyone a fair chance at the gold. if its a rare planet only one lucky person would benefit from it

Errm, comets are essentially frozen balls of dust.  In other words, you don't find gold in them.  If you're lucky, you might find trace amounts of gold in asteroids, which are not comets.  Out of the 1810 exoplanets we've discovered, only one of them has been proven to be a pure-carbon planet.  That means that that's a statistical .055248618% chance of finding one.  Carbon (the element that makes up diamond, coal, and known lifeforms) is the 4th most common element in the universe.  Gold, however, is much rarer.  Because the chances of finding such a thing are so slim, this would be a near death-blow to the game's realism.

Lmao!  The glitches every two minutes adds so much realism!
